Pyrosequencing wasn’t developed early enough to be employed by the Human Genome Project or Celera, but it was still the first method other than Sanger sequencing to hit the commercial market, marking the start of “next generation” sequencing methods (NGS). Pyrosequencing worked in real-time, though it struggled to accurately capture regions with several of the same nucleotides in a row.
