The second problem with the design above was the duplication of code for some of the infrastructure components. Don’t get me wrong, not all duplication is bad (as Rob Pike said: “A little copying is better than a little dependency”). But in this case it’s a significant piece of logic - a custom implementation of a TCP protocol in one case, and filtering of high-throughput data in the second.
