In MIM each module could be unit tested separately. In the circular-layers architectures… it’s hard to tell, because there are many community interpretations of what you put into the “core”. But in one of the popular community interpretations, i.e. “layers per domain”, you can get good separation, but at the cost of duplicated layers you don’t need.
