The point of a compiler is to consume syntactically and semantically valid files, while the point of an editor is to constantly invalidate those files. Every keystroke, every half-written parenthesis, every incomplete identifier will be perceived as errors by the compiler. Because of this, compiler-style parsers don’t handle half-written code well.
